Detailed description

Feliferon solution for injections is used for therapeutic and preventive purposes in cats with gastrointestinal, acute respiratory and other diseases of viral or mixed etiology, including viral leukemia and feline viral immunodeficiency.

Composition

1 ml of the ready-made solution for injections contains feline interferon with antiviral activity of 400,000 IU as an active substance. The drug is a colorless transparent or slightly opalescent fluid.

Packaging

The drug is packed in 2.5 ml glass vials with a volume of 3 ml, hermetically sealed with rubber stoppers and reinforced with combined caps for sterile solution selection. The drug is packed in a lodgement correx of 5 vials. Show box – 10 boxes. Mini-pallet – 3 show boxes.

Storage conditions, shelf life

Temperature range from 2°C to 8°C.

Shelf life under the conditions of storage in a closed packaging – 2 years after the manufacturing date; after the vial opening – not more than 5 days.

Contraindications

Feliferon is contraindicated in case of individual hypersensitivity to interferons, severe allergic and autoimmune diseases, severe disorders of the hematopoietic system, and functional disorders of the central nervous system.

Pharmacological properties

The mechanism of action consists in suppressing DNA and RNA-containing viruses in infected cells, increasing the resistance of healthy cells to viral infections, enhancing the phagocytic activity of macrophages and increasing the specific cytotoxicity of lymphocytes.

Usage and dosage

For preventive purposes (in the threat of infection), the drug is prescribed at a dose of 200,000 IU per 1 animal, twice with an interval of 48 hours.

For the treatment of viral, bacterial and mixed diseases of cats, the drug is administered at a daily dose of 200,000 IU for 5-7 days in combination with antibiotics, serum and immunoglobulin preparations, in accordance with the instructions for their use.

In severe cases of the disease and mixed infections, it is recommended to increase the average therapeutic dose by 2-fold to 400,000 IU.

For the treatment of feline retroviral infections (FIV, FeLV), the drug is administered at a daily dose of 400,000 IU from Day 1 to Day 7. Then it is administered at the same daily dosage on Days 9, 11 and 13.
