Composition

1 g of cream contains:

Active ingredient: ketoconazole 20 mg;

Excipients: propylene glycol, stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, polysorbate 80, isopropyl myristate, anhydrous sodium sulfite, purified water.


Pharmachologic effect

Nizoral is an antifungal drug, an imidazole dioxolane derivative. It has fungicidal and fungistatic effect. The mechanism of action is to inhibit the biosynthesis of ergosterol and change the lipid composition of the membrane of fungi.


Active against dermatophytes: Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton floccosum; yeast and yeast-like fungi Candida, Pityrosporum, pathogens of systemic mycoses (Cryptococcus spp.), dimorphic fungi, pathogens of some dermatomycosis (Trichophyton spp., Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum spp.), pathogens of candidiasis (Candida spp.), pathogens of candidiasis (Candida spp.), pathogens of candidiasis (Candida spp.). as well as gram-positive cocci (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.).


Nizoral shampoo - a new form of ketoconazole. Developed specifically for the treatment of pathology often encountered in dermatology, such as seborrhea.

It has been proven that the main cause of dandruff is microscopic yeast fungus Piturosporum ovale. It is often present on the scalp of the scalp, as a saprophyte. Under certain conditions, various functional disorders, the pathological growth of the fungus was observed, causing abundant exfoliation of epithelial cells in the hairy part of the skin. Carrying out the selection of various antimyotics, the scientists chose Nizoral. This drug is most effective for treating yeast fungus Piturosporum ovale.


Indications

  • ringworm smooth skin;
  • athlete's groin;
  • athlete's hand and foot;
  • skin candidiasis;
  • pityriasis versicolor;
  • seborrheic dermatitis caused by Pityrosporum ovale.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug.


Side effects

From the side of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system: headache, dizziness, paresthesia, photophobia, reversible increase in intracranial pressure.


On the part of the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; very rarely - a reversible increase in the level of transaminases, hepatitis.


From the hemopoietic system: thrombocytopenia.


On the part of the reproductive system: gynecomastia, oligospermia, irregular menstruation.


Local reactions: when applying the cream rarely - skin irritation, burning sensation, contact dermatitis.


How to take, the course of administration and dosage

Outwardly.


Candidiasis of the skin, dermatomycosis of smooth skin, inguinal athlete's disease, athlete's hand and foot, pityriasis versicolor: apply the cream 1 time per day on the affected skin and the immediate area.


Seborrheic dermatitis: cream is applied to the affected area 1 or 2 times a day, depending on the severity of the lesion. For maintenance therapy - 1 or 2 times a week.


Treatment should continue for a sufficient period of time, at least for several days after the disappearance of all symptoms of the disease. The diagnosis should be reviewed if there is no clinical improvement after 4 weeks of treatment. General hygiene measures should be observed to control sources of infection and reinfection.


The usual duration of treatment: pityriasis versicolor - 2–3 weeks, skin candidiasis - 2–3 weeks, inguinal athlete's disease — 2–4 weeks, dermatomycosis of smooth skin — 3–4 weeks, athlete's foot - 4–6 weeks; seborrheic dermatitis - 2-4 weeks.
